Jeff Denson is an award-winning bassist, vocalist, and composer who has released 16 albums as a leader or co-leader and tours internationally across the United States, Europe, and Japan. He has performed at major venues and festivals including the Village Vanguard, Birdland, The Kennedy Center, the Montreal Jazz Festival, and the Berlin Jazz Festival.
Hailed as “master of the jazz bass” by the San Francisco Chronicle and “singer of immense vocal talent” by Jazz Podium (Germany), Denson has worked with artists including Brian Blade, Joe Lovano, Chris Potter, Mike Stern, and Terri Lyne Carrington, among many others, and maintained a long-term musical relationship with jazz legend Lee Konitz until his passing in 2020.
His recent recordings include Between Two Worlds (2019), Finding Light (2022), and Outside My Window (2018), which highlights his work as a vocalist and bassist. He has been recognized 19 times in the DownBeat Magazine Critics Polls in three categories, Bassist, Electric Bassist, and Male Vocalist, and was the First Place Winner of the Rising Star Critics Poll for Electric Bassist in 2021.
